Yoga Classes
Students of SKYS regularly attend classes taught by highly trained and certified Iyengar yoga teachers. Iyengar teachers are trained through a process of apprenticeship and all must be certified either by the Association or by Mr Iyengar. It is mandatory for new students at SKYS who have not done Iyengar Yoga before to start with the 5 week Beginner 1 Course (foundation course of Iyengar Yoga).
How to Begin at SKYS ( 5 week Beginner I Course)
In beginners classes (Beginner 1 Course and Beginners 2 Class ), teachers introduce students gradually to the foundational asanas.
Class types
In general classes (Level 1 and 2), asana practice is consolidated and pranayama (the yogic breathing technique) is introduced.
In advanced classes (Level 3), very experienced students, teachers and teacher trainees practise at an intense level.
The therapy and mature classes are for people with health problems and older persons as well, asana sequences can be tailored for pregnant women attending this class.
The youth class is beneficial for children and teenagers from ages 9 to 15 years' old.
