Gopi (Snopi) belongs to Andrea, and has been coming into SKYS for the last 6 years, since she was 7 weeks old. Her place at the school is under the front desk in the foyer, before class starts, with Andrea. She is part of a dog Iyengar yoga lineage. Her parents, Astro and Gopi belonged to Ross and Roz from the Iyengar yoga school in Bells Beach.
Gopi’s name comes from the Hindu story of Krishna. Its a Sanskrit word meaning ‘cowherd girl’. Krishna had 108 Gopi girls, famous for their unconditional, unwavering devotion to him. Gopi, the dog, as well as the word, represents devotion. She is a much loved member of the school.
